Mosaics go back for more than 4,000 years or more. “Mosaics first used terracotta cones pushed point-first into a background and give definition.” During the eighth century mosaics were started to be made with different colored pebbles. The greeks in the fourth century B.C., who made the pebble technique as a form of art. Mosaics can also use glass instead of colored rocks. However, glass is not suitable for floor mosaics. If you compare Roman Britain and Italian, the British examples are less accomplished and simpler in design. Mosaics are used in many religious places and churches.
