Impressionism
Impressionism was a movement that originated in France in 1860’s and 1870’s. In 1874, Impressionism artists participated at in the first of eight independent held until 1886. ‘Closely identified with the Impressionists was Edouard Manet, whose controversial works of the 1860s led the mostly younger Impressionists to consider him their leader, even though he refused to exhibit in their shows.’ Fredrick Brazille was apart of the group but he was killed during the Franco-Prussian War, before he could contribute to the exhibitions he helped make. Impressionism changed the Western view in art. From nostalgic to accurate and colorful.
